The Hall

Browsholme Hall, pronounced ‘Brusom’, lies in the Forest of Bowland four miles north-west of Clitheroe. Built in 1507 by Edmund Parker, the Hall overlooks the Hodder Valley and is still lived in by that family and therefore has a genuine claim to be the oldest surviving family home in Lancashire.

A gem set in the heart of the Forest of Bowland

Browsholme Hall is a unique Grade I historic house and has been lived in by the Parker Family since it was built in 1507. Still a family home Robert and Amanda Parker are delighted to welcome visitors to give a glimpse on how 14 generations have lived at Browsholme from Henry VII to the present day. Certainly not a museum, visitors will see wonderful collection of historically associated antiques, paintings and furniture.

Set within the Forest of Bowland, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Hall is surrounded by ‘picturesque’ gardens and parkland. Visitors are invited to relax and wander in unspoiled countryside, woodland, views to the distant Fells and a 3 acre lake, see the new restoration of the Lily Pond and the ‘wilderness’ originally created in 1711 in the design of a Union Jack. Here at Browsholme there is much to see ….dogs are welcome to!
